He was known for his music, The Flight of the Bumble Bee. A lot of instrumental soloists include this particular piece as part of their repertoire. They usually play it as encore piece. His name is Antonin Dvorak, a Czech composer.

Tchaikovsky
Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, Russian composer, known for his music in the ballet world. It's one of the music that is a bit hard to execute requiring more agility and skill, especially in violin. However, his music is always breathtaking!

Number 6
I'm rolling along to number 6 this time of the series. I think I'm enjoying this as I'm having fun making them. Charcoal on 9x12 Canson paper.

Double quickies
I just want to feel the flow and randomness of quick sketch which is fun to do time after time. There are times that I get to like the result, other times I don't even feel like posting it. I think this etude is as essential as scale exercises are to a musician. The fun part of it is you play with your imagination on exaggerating features as you speed up. Hope you find them appealing.

Number 4
This is #4 of the Funny Face series. Not so funny to tell you the truth, but he's so happy alright. A bad choice for a decent art, I suppose. Charcoal on paper.

Our Patriots
Charcoal on newspaper prints. I got this brilliant idea from an artist #draw_by_design, a fine artist I came across at instagram. With this drawing unto newspaper-trick, and I have chosen to draw this soldier's face in honor of their selfless service, bravery, and fight for freedom. I personally like the newspaper print on the background. See the big headline running above the face? It's just made a perfect sense for the artwork!

Funny face II
Carbon. 8.5x11. White paper. Most of the time I get too caught up with posting them quick because of time constraint that I negate to do some final touches. By the time I get the chance to twick it I don't want to switch them anymore, even if they look much better.

Funny Face
Carbon pencil on 8.5x11 inches of white paper. This will the first of the series of funny faces that I will have to do next. Carbon paper seem to work out good. I had fun!
An etude
Constantin's wife Christina. One of the early rough etudes done in carbon pencil. Just thought that I keep on working at it till I get it right.

It's been awhile
I think it's been 4 years or so since the last time I was slapping oil paint on a canvas. Since my daughter was born I just went on to a medium that is easy to jump in and out without the risk of accidents and mess. I soaked myself to just doing charcoal, a much more comfortable medium. However, I planned of doing more of painting now slowly but surely with watercolor.
This oil painting is gonna go unfinished for awhile; it was never got done because of time constraint. Got rid of the wasted paint and packed up.

A study
A caricature study on the wacky duo of the 70s Cheech and Chong in ball point ink on newsprint paper.

Watercolor #5
A google follower Thean Rivers suggested to me to do Franz Kafka. And I thought it was a brilliant idea that I did it right away. Here's one, a study in monochrome watercolor in 5x9 inches of cold press paper.

Watercolor #4
It's piling up slowly but surely. This is another caricature study in watercolor. 6x9 inches in cold press paper. I like doing small works for fast results, just trying to get away from boredom. This a caricature of Buster Keaton of the silent movie era.

Watercolor #3
2 versions of caricature on Al Pacino. The latter in monochrome black and white watercolor, and the former in bronze wax oil pastel. I did these artworks loosely to try out the creative side of exaggeration rather than the technical side of achieving the exact likeness of Mr. Pacino. Under time constraint I couldn't have the luxury of spending time sculpting his face. In caricature it's mostly the artist's own interpretation of exaggeration and creativity that's into play. It's a study anyway.

Late post
Caricature in black and white on a 5.5x8.5 ins. toned gray paper. This is an art piece I did last week that got away from posting for some reason. I think it deserves some exposure somehow. So here it is.

A movie actress
Quick caricature in china marker on 9x12 ins newsprint paper. This is a movie actress whom I cannot name. Just like her face in photo and draw her right away.
Watercolor #2
Caricature in watercolor, a monochrome study in 9x12 98 lb. Canson paper. I am obviously still learning the medium and launching for a very long journey to mastering it.

Easy does it.
Charcoal portrait of Steve Buscemi on a 11x-4 inches of toned gray paper. I'm curious about that HBO series Boardwalk Empire where Buscemi received a widespread critical acclaim on his performance. I think it's on its 4th season now. I simply can't have the time for it. However, Steve's facial character has always intrigue me ever since, and it's a sheer joy to do a portrait of him. It makes the job easier.

Ed
Portrait in graphite on 8.5 x 11 inches on white paper. I applied straight cross-hatching in the entire process without the use of stumps or any material usually employed to blend or make smudges. It was tempting to use it as it makes the job easier, but it defeats my purpose on this artwork. I was trying to see how to temper various pressures on hatching to get the desired value on tone.

Watercolor #1
A monochromatic study in watercolor on a cold press paper. 6x9 ins. I would like to try some more of watercolor sketches and get a hang of it. My concept of values doing charcoal is a big help that I can't see any difficulty applying it with watercolor.

Crazy hair, crazy year
A study in black and white charcoal. This study, as most of my studies, is only 6 inches on a 5.5x8.5 ins. Strathmore sketch book. The portrait, by the way, is of Johnny Depp.
