Caricature #957

Caricature in charcoal. 9x12 on toned paper. I ended up rushing this project because it was getting too late, and I thought of just continuing it the next day. Then I just can't stop. I have to be up early the next day for work- one and a half hour of sleep.

Caricature #956

Caricature of the late Keith Ledger.  Charcoal on 9x12 inches of toned gray paper.

Caricature #955

Caricature of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman sitting. Reference: photos of Dana Lixemberg. 9x12 toned gray paper. I was slowly but surely trying to get away from doing head to a full-length study pose. I had fun time doing this quick sketch.

Portrait #954

Tri-color portrait on toned paper. 9.5x12. This is an experimental technique I adopted from the book "The Art of Portrait Drawing" by Joy Thomas. A number of other helpfull hints I learned from this book.

Quickie #953

When I ran out of things to do after a number of sketches for the day I just want to do one more sketch. I definitely know my day isn't about to end yet at 6:30. So I did this:

Caricature #952

Graphite in 9x12 inches of paper.

Caricature #951

Caricature in graphite. 9x12 inches. I wanted to show the strokes of graphite to look fresh. I used 4B and 6B. No use of tortillions or stumps to smoothen the shades.

Caricature #950

After a few attempts I finally caught a more appropriate and satisfactory result. Sometimes the picture I picked is not clicking that I have to be jumping from one to another. I chose to be a bit rough with my strokes in a painterly fashion to keep it looking fresh. This is the comedian Jon Cryer. "Two and a Half Men"? You got the picture.
