A quick study and a charcoal on paper. After being away for a little while from blogging (not away from drawing, please), and was able to view some of the blogs from my fav artists, it made me realize that my blogs needs some "spice" in my artworks.  Some kicking, shaking the box, reinventing out of the box, turning it up to a notch, or call it your way, whatever.  Bottom line, I need some changes.

Charcoal on paper.  He's the VP nominee for Republican ticket on the 2012 US Presidential Race this November.  A Tea Party favorite. With his nomination it energized the conservatives around the country as they see him as a smarter pick by presidential nominee Mitt Romney.  As an economic expert and math wiz, he is more able to articulate more than anybody else on how to fix and reverse the tanking economy.  For the record, he was the one who came up with the Republican version of reforming healthcare (ignored by Obama) and the fiscal budget which was voted by the House of Representatives, but was killed by the Senate House just because it's a Republican budget plan.  The Democrat-majority Senate House could not come up with their own budget to compromise with the Lower House. Niether President Obama was able to lead both parties to meet and come up with a budget to give our economy some common sense of direction, nor he was able to come up with his own plan.  In other words, for 3 and a half years of Obama administration the United States doesn't have a budget plan. What difference would it make for the next four years of his re-election?

A First

Digital. At long last I was able to come up with something more decent painting. I thought that this tech is more of a friendly user, that I disregard totally reading any literature on how to go about it. Sure enough it has put me through a lot of hits and misses. It took me 4 hours to complete this one- phew! (Well, I was able to mow and water my whole lawn in-between. Ha!) I could be better. It's just a start.

Stumped again!

Pen. For the nth time I can't seem to win to get myself satisfied over drawing this caricature of Mark Wahlberg from the movie "The Fighter". I keep inventing on how to approach his face in a exaggerated way but still can't seem to keep his likeness-- that I believe is the hardest part of a caricature. I guess I'll try again in the next round.

Who is she anyway?

Black ball point pen. This is the only attempt I did on doing the full body (at the most) in a caricature style. Mostly I constrained my drawings to just doing the head. I know I can't be too comfortable and not have the desire to think out of the box. It's Emily Blunt, by the way.

The sketches above are some that I have piled up over time that I wasn't able to post for a long while, for 2 and a half months, or so. Why the long absense? I don't know, just got tired of posting, I guess. But I was still keeping up with drawing, though I slowed down in some degree. I have been trying to learn digital painting with WACOM intuous3. And somehow I could not get it going. I thought WACOM is that friendly user that I jumped the gun. I was wrong.

Ink on paper. Among the many personalities I have drawn, Itzhak Perlman is the most person I did many times over. I'm not so sure why, but I'm sure this is not the last. For almost a year now I have been doing a lot of doodles on ink and paper for reasons that it's convenient and an easy pack up when why little one comes prowling around to mess up things. Especially now that she is starting to walk by herself. I'm looking forward in the near future of doing art with her around trying to get busy emulating his father --that we'll be a calmer situation. Perhaps, I could work on a more serious medium like pastel, charcoal, oil, or digital painting.

I'm glad the Republican party, backed by the Tea Party Movement, had a sweeping victory across the nation in last Tuesday's mid-term election. The Dems and the far left pundits are no longer name-calling and laughing at the people's movement. Obama and the elitist left are done with their arrogance, insensitivity, and callowness on issues that matters most on the people. "The people has clearly spoken", as he puts it in his press conference the day after. So it remains to be seen if he's sincere on what he is professing of working with the now majority party Republicans. I don't know how Obama is really going to work with the new majority leader who is NOT bent on compromising the Obamacare and TARP Reform. Why would anybody compromise on anything that will surely bankrupt the nation? I strongly support the 'Repeal and Replace the Obamacare'. Obama in defense of his defeat on his supposedly referendum said, "he didn't communicate enough and people didn't get it" --he gave 258 speeches on healthcare alone!!! You can't possibly believe this guy on everything he says and he would make it sound good like candy so everybody buys it.
