The Mayor's Mistress

Colored pencil in Stratmore medium paper. 12 colors is what I have by Loew and Cornell brand and I feel so inadequate and limited. At the early part of process I was already thinking of quitting for the same reason, but nonetheless I continued with persistence. Its frustrating just the same on mixing the colors to get the effect I wanted. I thought of using the brown paper which has more teeth and roughness to hold the pigments, but I ran out of it, so I was stuck of what is at hand. I wasn't really sure of the outcome of this until it was finally finished. Voila! And there it is.

Head study in colors

Colored pencil on 5.5 x 8.5 paper. One of my few works in color. Honestly, I was just doodling aimlessly trying to make it look good and see how it goes. What can I say? You'll be the judge.
